Prayers over sacred fire and palo santo, workshops on clowning, permaculture and the Andean cosmovision, Afro-Ecuadorian food, and countless smiles and hugs.

Welcome to the Ilalo Peace Village, which from August 3 to 5 brought together 70 people to share experiences and knowledge, and live together for 3 days.

The gathering was the first of it’s kind in Ecuador, with the intention of establishing itself as an annual gathering to foster the culture of peace and sustainable communities in Ecuador.

We offered several activities during the event, including a workshop on bike-machines with live demonstrations, and a talk about what we have found and learned during our trip. We also gave a report on the developments of CASA, the Council of Sustainable Settlements of the Americas.

In addition to being a space for the Ecuadorian people and local projects to share experiences, it was also a gathering of pilgrims and nomads with ecological and artistic projects, and our network of EcoCaravans continues to grow and mature.

Below is a video with images from the gathering:

We produced the video with our friend Henny Freitas of Earth Code and the Barco Iris (the Rainboat), a project to travel by their homemade boat through the Amazon region of Ecuador, Peru and Brazil performing theatre and giving workshops on ecology to the local communities.

Ayaiya Huiyaya! (a salute from the Andean peoples)
